Founders

Samir Majumdar
Co-Founder

Samir Majumdar has more than 20 years of engineering and engineering management experience working in high-growth technologies including SaaS, knowledge management and mobile application development.

Before co-founding Veloxy, Samir served as vice president, software engineering and development, for Perceptimed. Prior to this, Samir worked at Ingenuity Systems (acquired by QIAGEN, April 2013), most recently serving as vice president of engineering. Samir was responsible for leading global teams, driving strategy and execution, focusing on “voice of customer,” innovation and accelerated product development. He also spent considerable time working with the sales professionals, coming to understand many of their needs and KPIs.

Prior to joining Ingenuity, Majumdar worked in various engineering positions at Varian Medical Systems, Cerner Corporation and the University of Manitoba at Winnipeg, Canada. He received a master’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India; and has a Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Manitoba, Winnepeg, Canada. Majumdar also holds a certificate in Executive Business Management from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Sauvik Sarkar
Co-Founder

Versatile and skilled, Veloxy Co-founder Sauvik Sarkar has a wealth of experience developing highly sophisticated and complex technologies, which he deploys in simple and easy-to-use products for the end-user market. Sauvik applies his background in statistics to create powerful machine-learning, predictive algorithms for Veloxy.

Prior to co-founding Veloxy, Sauvik worked as a technology consultant to Silicon Valley companies including Apple and Movoto. He brought with him deep knowledge of scalable mobile solutions using open source technologies – knowledge gained from working at eBay as a member of their technology staff. Sauvik has also served in various technology roles at MedImpact and Mitchell International.

Sauvik holds a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree, both conferred by the Indian Statistical Institute at Kolkata, West Bengal.

Jim Chappell

With more than 30 years of experience in the high tech industry, Jim has built a reputation as someone who effectively combines big picture thinking with the knowledge of the internal workings of an organization.

Incisive decision-making mixed with collaborative management skills is key to his ability to marshal an organization’s resources to align with ongoing change events that affect all aspects of their business with a critical focus on marketing, sales and customer success organizations.

Jim has held senior executive positions at Declara, Whodini, Moka5, Centrify and Legato, where he successfully led the integration of the $1.3 billion acquisition by EMC.

Jim also shares his passion for innovation with future generations through his work on Cal Poly’s Industry Advisory Board.
